Emerging research suggests that aggressive or prolonged detoxification protocols may inadvertently activate autoimmune mechanisms through several biological pathways:
Immunostimulatory Effects of Detox Agents
Herbal supplements used in detox regimens can over activate immune cells. A study found these agents may:
Trigger cytokine storms in predisposed individuals
Break immune tolerance in genetically susceptible people
Exacerbate subclinical autoimmune conditions
Glutathione modulation: While this master antioxidant helps regulate immune responses, improper detox practices may:
Deplete glutathione reserves through excessive oxidative stress
Disrupt T-cell metabolic regulation
Remove natural brakes on immune cell activation
Toxic Overload Mechanisms
Persistent detox efforts without proper support may:
Overwhelm phase II liver detox pathways, creating reactive intermediate metabolites that trigger inflammatory responses
Release stored toxins (e.g., heavy metals, pesticides) faster than elimination capacity, causing:
Increased circulation of pro-inflammatory compounds
Molecular mimicry triggers through toxin-protein adduct formation
Epigenetic and Metabolic Impacts
Research shows detox-associated stressors can:
Upregulate interferon signaling pathways by 300-400%, mimicking viral response patterns
Alter DNA methylation patterns in immune-related genes
Deplete zinc and selenium reserves critical for maintaining immune tolerance
A balanced body will detox naturally
Meditation research paradoxically shows reduced oxidative stress pathways coupled with enhanced immune activity, suggesting forced detoxification without proper stress modulation may achieve the opposite effect.
These findings indicate that while controlled detoxification under medical supervision can be beneficial, chronic or aggressive protocols may push the immune system into dysregulated states through multiple intersecting pathways and turn on autoimmune disorder. So, please use caution.
I have proceeded extremely cautiously in this pursuit and am a recent (unpaid) subscriber. I'm in my mid-70s and note that my body reacts completely differently from when young so I can't "blast" it with remedies which explains my extremely cautious approach. I only add one treatment at a time and must wait to determine the effects. I've tried so many which I discontinued because I "didn't feel right." I could "feel" my body was "off."
The conundrum has always been that, if we must continually detox, our detox protocol must do no harm. Thus, our detox must be effective and as sparse as possible to allow the natural healing mechanism of the body to kick into gear. Natural healing is superior to all practices because of its divinity.
So, yes, a cautious approach looking at the actual effects is needed. I will be reading your past articles as well. I think the best way forward is what you're doing: explaining what works for your patients and you while verifying your results under the microscope. The other "difficulty" in this whole genre is that people's attitudes, beliefs, and emotional reactions also form the basis for the results they "see." Thus, people with similarities in their emotional make-up, e.g., will "respond" to certain treatments. I don't think people understand this point.
Thank you.
I was taught to detox with grace and ease. Start first with detoxing all the organs of elimination; it's the French method. First use remedies to detox the liver and kidneys. Then the skin and lymph system. Only detox the deeper layers AFTER the more superficial layers have been addressed. Leave heavy metals, chemicals. and parasites until last.
Now I would also add Jack Kruse, MD's philosophy to the methodology. It augments everything that Dr. Coates and Spooky2 devices do for you. Start with experiencing the morning's sunrise every single day... from this day forward. Set your internal brain clock to the rising of the sun via your eyes. Ground yourself in a safe place away from electrical cables and boxes for at least an hour a day. Put your bare feet on planet Earth! Uncle Jack says to "act like the Sphinx". Gradually work up to sunbathing nude for at least an hour per day to gradually build up one's solar callus and to maximize melanin production in all the tissues. Disconnect from being inside with artificial blue light and computer tech radiation. Go to bed shortly after the sun sets. Match the rhythmic cycles of the day. Realize that when we turn on an ordinary LED light, it tells our brain that it's 12 noon... and that's whether it's 4 am, 9 pm or midnight. Circadian rhythm is the foundation of life. Anything else is artificial and we might as well be living on the International Space Station. Chose instead to be connected to Nature. Note the difference in your energy level. Watch your disease symptoms fade away. This is natural detox. And it's free. More info? jackkruse.com; he's on Patreon. And he's done numerous interviews on YouTube.
